Protest march to demand implementation of tiol Food Security Act

Donkamokam, September 28:  Organized by Rongkhang Block Congress Committee (RBCC) at Donkamokam, which comprises of four MAC constituencies like Rongkhang, Bithung Rengthama, Hamren and Kopilis, leaders and activists on Monday  held a protest march from RBCC office to Assistant Revenue Officer’s office (ARO), Donkamokam, and later submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister rendra Modi demanding early implementation of the tiol Food Security Act, 2013, in Assam under which poor families will receive rice and wheat at subsidized rate  and also demanded steps to check price rise of essential commodities.

RBCC president Ronjit Teron who led the march said, “We have prepared the beneficiary list and completed all the formalities required by the NFSA around two years back, but unfortutely the Central Government is delaying to implement the Act for which the poor people are being deprived of reaping the benefits of the Act. So where are the acche din?”

Chairman Vet Board Ditolal Hasnu also attacked the BJP government saying that the sky rocketing prices of essential commodities had affected the day-to-day life of the common people.

“The steep hike in railway fare, freight charges and service tax has made people’s life miserable and they will give the BJP a good lesson in the next election,” MAC Aton Sangma said.  BRMCC president Tarzan Langthasa also addressed the gathering while KADCC secretary Horen KroNihang attended as observer.  In the protest march several hundreds of people took part with placards, cooking vessels and plates in their hands.
