Protest meet held over gaon incident

mrup, Aug 27: Condemning the unprecedented incident in gaon, a protest meet was held at mrup Fertilizer Shramik Union office on Saturday under the auspices of Ex-ULFA Aikya Mancha, Dibrugarh and in collaboration with the people of mrup.

The open session was conducted by Mintu Chaliha, organizing secretary, Ex-ULFA Aikya Mancha and presided over by Monikanta Chetia, president, Senior Citizen Forum and Sahitya Sabha, mrup. Prabhakar Sonowal, president, Ex-ULFA Aikya Mancha, Dibrugarh explained the objective of the meet. In his speech, Prabhakar Sonowal spoke on the aims and objectives of Ex-ULFA Aikya Mancha and stressed unity and integrity of the indigenous people of Assam to confront and elimite any anti-Assamese forces from Assam. He too warned the anti-Assamese lobby not to hurt the sentiments of the Assamese people.

Besides, Monikanta Chetia in his speech expressed deep concern over outsiders’ aggression on the Assamese society. Chetia urged everyone to unite against the anti-Assamese elements. Leaders and members of several socio-cultural organizations, including mrup Anchalik Chatra Santha, mrup Fertilizer Workers’ Union, Fertilizer Workers’ Union, KMSS, Tai Ahom Chatra Santha, mrup Press and Society, AGP, Gram Unyan Sangha, Senior Citizens Forum and Bihu Suraksha Samiti and shared their valuable views and suggestions in the meet.

The meeting adopted two unimous resolutions - to live and unity and to stress on the implementation of the law on land rights in Assam following 371(A) Article of the Indian Constitution.
