Protest over Merger of OIL with IOCL at Duliajan

Duliajan, Aug 11: Hundreds of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samitti (KMSS) of Dibrugarh district and its student wing Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti (CMSS), protested the proposed merger of Oil India Limited (OIL) with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) by staging a  mass sit-in demonstration in front of OIL registered office at Duliajan. The protestors were led by KMSS Advisor central committee  Madhu Ram  Gogoi, organising Secretary Akash Dolley, District President Indra Kumar Gogoi, Secretary Shasi Senchoua and Hemanta Konwar Debabrata Saikia, Assistant Secretary CMSS, Central committee, bul Bharali, President Madhurya Baruah, Biswajit Phukan Joint Secretary Dibrugarh District Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti.

Both KMSS and CMSS on August 9 opposed the  amalgamation of Assam’s two public Sector  oil companies and later submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister rendra Modi. Expressing serious concern over the reason behind the move, both the organizations urged upon the Prime Minister, for cancellation of the proposed merger plan of OIL-IOCL and take a decisive steps for further growth of the OIL. The copies of the memorandum were also sent to  Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Fince Minister Arun Jaitly, Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, OIL CMD Utpal Bora, and IOCL chairman Sanjib Singh. The memoranda were received by the Circle Officer, Tengakhat, and representatives of OIL magement respectively.
