Protesting teachers demand inquiry committee

SHILLONG, Jan 25: The Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) trainee teachers, batch 2013, on the second day of their sit in demonstration inside the premise of the tiol Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) Shillong office located at Laitumkhrah has taken a resolution demanding immediate constitution of an inquiry committee by the state government within February 2017. HM Marbaniang, general secretary, Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA), Central Body, while speaking to reporters, said, “We have taken a decision to write a letter to the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to constitute an inquiry committee to look into the errors in the results of D.El.Ed trainee batch 2013 within February this year.” He said the teacher’s body will send a letter to the Chairman of NIOS seeking clarification on their demands. “We will give the chairman 2 weeks time to give appropriate clarification failing which we will be force to put the NIOS office under lock and key,” he added. He said, “We demand that the Chief Minister within the month of February he should constitute an inquiry committee and if fresh result is not announced by NIOS we will shut it down.”
