Dibrugarh, Dec 30: Protests and counter-protest continued to rock the State following BJP activists allegedly attacked Congress workers at APCC headquarter at Rajib Bhawan in Guwahati on Monday. The BJP workers staged protest in front of Rajib Bhawan against a derogatory remark made by former minister and Congress leader Nilamoni Sen Deka against Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani. Both Congress and BJP today staged protest against each other accross the State.

State BJP president and Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbanda Sonowal’s effigy was burnt by Youth Congress activists at Tha Chariali in Dibrugarh in protest against the  attack  on Congress workers  at Rajiv Bhavan in Guwahati.

The Youth Congress activists in their protest flayed the recent act of the BJP workers who allegedly  pelted stones at Congress workers at Rajiv Bhavan.

Tinsukia: The activists of Tinsukia District Congress Committee staged a demonstration on Wednesday in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office protesting against the BJP workers’ unruly behavior at Rajib Bhawan in Guwahati on Monday. The District Congress alleged that BJP workers crossed all limits. On the other hand, BJP Tinsukia District Committee also staged sit in demonstration on Wednesday in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office protesting against the Congress MLA Nilmoni Sen Deka’s controversial remark and state government’s policy. BJP District Committee alleged that state government motivated the police and civil administrations against BJP leaders and workers.

MARGHERITA: Margherita Block Congress Committee activists on Wednesday staged a dhar in front of the gate of Margherita Sub Divisiol Office (Civil).NSUI, Margherita Assembly Youth Congress Committee and Margherita Mahila Congress Committee members took part in today’s dhar.  Bhuban Handique, president of Margherita Block Congress Committee, said that on December 28, Congress workers were allegedly attacked by BJP goons at Rajiv Bhavan in Guwahati. “We condemn this barbaric incident,” he said.

Suman Khalen, president of Margherita Assembly Youth Congress Committee, also criticized BJP workers for indulging in ‘dirty and hate politics’. More than 300 Congress members of Margherita took part in the dhar.

Golaghat: The activists of Golaghat district Congress committee and Mondal Congress committee staged a dhar in Golaghat on Wednesday against alleged misbehavior of BJP leaders.Hundreds of activists protested against alleged misbehavior and illegal activities of BJP leaders in Guwahati on December 28. The protesters shouted slogans against the BJP and the Modi government.

On the other hand, the activists of Golaghat district BJP also staged a six-hour hunger strike near the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday in protest against the controversial comment of Congress leader Nilamoni Sen Deka.

About 200 BJP supporters along with leaders of Golaghat  district unit  protested against Congress MLA Nilamoni Sen Deka for his alleged controversial speech at a recent public meeting in lbari district. The protesters shouted slogans against the Congress government and strongly condemned the comment and demanded arrest of Deka.

Addressing the activists, the president of Golaghat district BJP, Debojit Bora said, “The comment by the Congress leader cannot be tolerated by the Assamese society.”

Goalpara:  The Goalpara district Congress committee (DCC) on Wednesday took out a rally against the BJP’s attack on Congress workers at Rajiv Bhavan in Guwahati.

The rally that started from DCC office, passed through the main streets of the town and later the activists stage a sit-in in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.   During the rally, the protesters shouted slogans and showed banners and festoons against the BJP.

Supervised by Alhaj Abu Sayed, president DCC, the rally was also participated by former minister Pray Rabha, former MLAs ABS Jotder, Deven Doimary and many other local party leaders.

On the other hand, the district BJP also staged a sit-in in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office against the ruling Congress. Hundreds of workers took part in this protest.

JORHAT: BJP Jorhat district committee members staged a protest in Jorhat in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday against the controversial comment made by Congress leader Nilamoni Sen Deka recently. About a hundred activists took part in the programme.
