Protests rock Dhekiajuli

Dhekiajuli, May 7: The Dhekiajuli unit of AASU on Monday burnt the copy of the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 and expressed strong protest against the government’s move to pass the bill. The protesters gathered in front of Paramount Hotel near NH-15 and burnt a copy of the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016. Under the leadership of Shankar Das, the president of AASU Dhekiajuli unit, hundreds of AASU activists gathered at the protest site and shouted different anti-government slogans.
Similar protests were held in Sirajuli, Thelamara, Borsola  and other parts of Dhekiajuli subdivision. The student body pledged to stop the government from passing the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 at any cost.
