Providing basic requirements to people my priority: Pul

Itagar, Dec 17: Newly elected leader of the Aruchal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Kalikho Pul today said that the extra ordiry situation for which, the members of the assembly were forced to opt for composite floor test was created by the present government, not by the 21 dissident Congress members.

Pul who was elected as the next chief minister of the state during the composite floor test in a makeshift venue told reporters immediately after the session that his priority would be to make the state capital one of the best in the country.

“My priority areas will be to provide the people the basic requirements of good roads, health, water supply and education facilities for which the people are crying,” He said while responding to media queries.

Hinting at a coalition government, the long-serving fince minister of the state said that responsive, transparency and accountability would be basic principles of his government while every single penny received would be judiciously utilised.

On the current fincial situation of the state, the MLA from Hayuliang assembly constituency emphatically said that there is no dearth of fund for the state.

“We will explore all possible avenues for resources and being the fince minister for the last 14 and half year, I know from where fince can be maged,” he said.

 When asked on his stand on the contentious Chakma-Hajong refugee issue that rocked the state after the September 17 verdict of the Supreme Court directing the state government to allow permanent settlement of the refugees in the state, Pul said that he would put all effort in due consultation with the Centre to bring a logical solution so that the indigenous people would not suffer.

Pul, whose constituency shares border with Chi was optimistic for a better Indo-Sino relation.

“We will highlight our problems with the Centre regarding Chi’s claim of Aruchal’s territory and asked the government to bring a logical solution to the issue. My priority will be to develop all the border areas in order to check migration of people by providing them all facilities which, will solve the problem to a large extent,” he added.
