Provincialization of all law colleges sought

Dibrugarh, Aug 21: A memorandum was submitted to Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal by the representatives of All Assam Law Students’ Union (AALSU) at a function held in Dibrugarh on Sunday.  The memorandum stated about the various demands that are based on the current problems being faced by the teachers and students of law colleges of the State. 
The eight- point memorandum highlighted some basic issues  which are - provincialization of all the law colleges; resolving the job-related  problems of the teachers of all law colleges in the State; government fincial aid should be given to all law colleges pending the time of provincialization; government merit scholarship should be given to law students ; to execute the system of giving monthly remuneration with condition to trainee lawyers after their enrolment in the Bar Council of India (BCI); the process of having vercular medium of legal education system should be initiated like some other States of the country ; and to take steps for overall evaluation of the infrastructure of the legal education system. The Chief Minister accepted the memorandum and promised to solve the issues by taking up the matter with the authorities concerned.
