PSG's Verratti praises Cavani, coach Ui Emery

Paris, Oct 20: French football champions Paris Saint-Germain's midfielder Marco Verratti has praised his team-mate Edison Cavani and also showed support for head coach Ui Emery.

In an interview with newspaper Le Figaro on Wednesday, Verratti said, "Great players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic have left but they have been replaced. I am particularly thinking of Cavani, who has found his place. In previous years, he was not playing in his true position. He is a player who scores goal after goal. We can count on him," reports Efe.

Verratti, 23, admitted that he misses Ibrahimovic, who left for England's Manchester United after last season.

On coach Emery, who assumed responsibility of the team recently, Verratti said that the Spanish coach is working non-stop on every detail for the benefit of the team. He added the difference between Emery and his predecessor Laurent Blanc, is that the Spaniard directs his players to retrieve the ball more quickly. Verratti hoped that PSG could win the Champions League before he leaves the French club.

PSG defeated Swiss side FC Basel 3-0 on Wednesday in round three of the Champions League group stage. IANS
