PSPB Chess begins in Digboi

GUWAHATI, Dec 20: The 29th PSPB Inter Unit Chess tourment got underway at Digboi today with the presence of some of the elite players of the country including Grand Master P Harikrish of BPCL, Grand Master Vidit Santosh Gujrathi of ONGC, Grand Master Krishn Sasikiran of ONGC and Grand Master B Adhiban of IOCL. This is in fact the first time that almost all the top players of the country are playing together in the Northeast region and particularly in Assam.  Altogether 66 players including 18 Grand Masters and 7 Intertiol Masters from 9 units mely ONGC, BPCL, IOCL, OIL INDIA, MRPL, HPCL, EIL, IOCL(AOD) and NRL are participating in this 5-day event in which competition in both team and individual events in swiss league format will be held. Earlier the meet was formally iugurated by Mritunjay Pramanik, Executive Director, IOCL (Assam Oil Division).
