Public flays irregularity of TET teachers in Mohanpur

From Our Special Correspondent

Silchar, Jan 24: When the State government led by Sarbanda Sonowal has come for high appreciation from general public and academics in particular for giving appointment to TET teachers purely on the basis of merit, maintaining transparency, the teachers in some cases after their absorption have been found to be indifferent and negligent in discharge of their duties. In a recent case, residents of Dakshin Mohanpur part-IX under Soi block elementary education office of Cachar, in a written complaint to the district elementary education officer (DEEO) here have med two assistant teachers, Wasmin Sulta Laskar and Renu Dubey, of 1529, Jurkhal L.P. School, of the area.

According to them, after their joining, the teachers in question have remained absent from taking any class. They are totally unmindful of their duties. In fact, they have totally made a mockery of their appointment as teachers. The serious allegation is that both have joined together to assign or shift their teaching job to another teacher who take the classes on their behalf. This has been going on with the full knowledge of the headmaster and the magement committee of the school. The worst casualty of their waywardness is the academic discipline and the sufferers are the innocent children.

Their studies have badly been affected. There is no other teacher except the headmaster. It is not possible for the headmaster to take the responsibility of running the school in a proper manner. As the sons and daughters of the local people study in this school, they have brought it to the notice of the block elementary education officer of Soi. But sadly enough, nothing has been done and no action has been initiated against the erring teachers who continue to act in their own way. The residents in the circumstances have sent a letter of complaint to Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister of Education, today with copy to the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar and also to the headmaster as reminder to him.

The residents are worried about the very future of this school and hope the Education Minister and the district education authorities would take the matter seriously and initiate necessary remedial steps against the teachers in the larger interest of students and for the sake of primary education. Those who signed the complaint letter included Mainul Haque Laskar, Salim Uddin Laskar, Saif Uddin Ahmed, Ash Begum Barbhuiya among others. Interestingly, the president of the school magement committee, Md. Sabjul Haque Laskar himself has been one of the sigtories of the complaint letter. Most surprising, though the teachers have remained absent since their joining, the attendance sheet shows their regular presence with sigtures. The complaints have demanded thorough inquiry into the murky affairs of the lower primary schools.
