From A Reporter

SHILLONG, May 15: The Khun Hynniewtrep tiol Awakening Movement (KHM), State Youth Wing, which has continuously taken up the issues of candidates applying for the Jugali’s (helpers) post at Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) on Monday announced that a public meeting will be held at Students’ field, Jaiaw on May 19, to discuss the unresponsive attitude of the cooperation on their demand.

The public meeting is scheduled to start at 11 am and will be participated by all Jugali candidates from across the State. At present 466 Jugali candidates have yet to receive appointment letter for the cooperation.

It may be mentioned that earlier in a meeting Jugali’s and KHM leaders had set a 15 day deadline to MeECL which ended today in issuing appointment letters to 466 candidates out of the 772 successful Jugali candidates for both Phase II (233) and III (233).

Addressing reporters, KHM state youth wing president, Thomas Passah said, “At the meeting we will also be discussing future course of action by way of agitation as the MeECL has been turning a deaf ear to our demands.”

He demanded that the cooperation should stop delaying and immediately issue appointment letters to the successful candidates.

The KHM leader has further urged all the candidates yet to receive appointment letters from the cooperation to attend the public meeting.

“The candidates are fearful that they will not get the appointment letters as the merit list is valid till the month of August 2017,” he said.

He informed they are also preparing to take the issue to the High Court and are currently in talks with legal experts.

“The cooperation should issue appointment letters for both Phase II and III candidates at the same time as there is fear that the merit list for Phase III will eventually become invalid,” he said.
