Silchar, Dec 4: Advisor of  All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students Association (ACKHSA) Rupam ndi Purkayastha addressed a public meeting held at the meeting hall of Madhyashohor Sanskritik Samiti, Park road, Silchar on Sunday. “It is time to unmask those leaders who have been playing with words. Bengalis are living in the constant fear of being left out and alone,” said Rupam ndi Purkayastha. He stressed on the need for a united fight against forces which are trying to pin down the Bengalis of the State of Assam. “If concrete steps are not taken to save these hapless Bengalis, then demand for a separate Barak becomes logical and reasoble. There are leaders who are trying to flatter the government by dancing on its tunes. We should be aware of such leaders and parties. ACKHSA will always stand for the people of this Valley,” Rupam ndi added to say.
 In his iugural speech Dr Subir Kar, former head, Department of Bengali, Assam University laid emphasis on the need of sustaining the culture and tradition of Bengali people. “Civilization does not compromise with aggression. But Bengalis are facing all sorts of troubles since long. There is a conspiracy being weaved to destroy the peaceful state of Bengali people,” said Dr Kar. Among others who spoke on the occasion included Shibani Bhattacharjee, Haran Dey, Imad Uddin Bulbul, Sadhan Purkayastha, Anwar Uddin Barlaskar, Kishore Bhattacharjee, Niladri Roy and Jyotirmoy Das.
