Public meeting on NRC update held

CHAPAR, May 13: A public meeting organized in connection with updating of NRC in Dhubri district by Asom Sankhyalaghu Sangram Parishad (ASSP)was held on Sunday at Rangamati High School at Bahalpur here. Addressing the meeting Abdul Aziz, president of ASSP called upon the Government not to harass the genuine Indian citizen in the me of religion and language. He also called upon the Government to cooperate with the Government officials engaged in the NRC update process. The meeting, which was presided by Abdul Jalil, assistant teacher Bahalpur High School, was also attended by Imul Haque, president Bilasipara District Committee of ASSP , Sahidul Islam, vice-president of ASSP’s Bilasipara District Committee, Abu Siddique and Sarib Uddin. The new committee of ASSP’s Rangamati Anchalik Commiittee was also formed in the meeting with Piyar Ali as president and Abdul Barke as general secretary. More than 300 people attended the meeting.
