Public protest after arrest of two 'innocent' persons at Dolohat

 Lakhimpur, December 9: The situation in North Lakhimpur, Dolohat turned chaotic after two

persons were allegedly arrested illegally regarding a murder case reported by the family of an accused thief who died in police custody on Monday.

 According to sources, Abdul Jabab was caught red handed stealing at Bubul Bora’s house at Solmaria gaon on Monday following which he was beaten up by the villagers and taken to the Dolohat police station but unfortutely he died soon.   Following the incident, two socially active persons of Dolohat Solmaria - Niranjan Rai and Indrajeet Bhuyan - who were uware about the death of the thief arrived at Dolohat police station next day to report against him officially but based on a murder case reported by the

family of the thief at Silonibari police station that Abdul Jabab was killed by unknown miscreants, they were arrested by the Dolohat police and shifted to the Laluk police station.

 The sudden arrest of the two innocent villagers created confusion among the public and in a rage they protested against the police administration on Tuesday.  More than 200 people of Dolohat and Solmaria closed all the shops and commercial establishments of Dolohat and protested in front of the Laluk police station with different banners and slogans. They  demanded to set the two persons free.
