Puja festivities end peacefully at Lakhipur

Silchar, Oct 15: Durga Puja festivities have ended on a high note at Lakhipur sub-division. Puja was performed at around 94 pandals in the sub-division. It has passed peacefully as no untoward and unpleasant incident has been reported from any corner. The law and order situation was looked over by J R Lalsim, ADC, Cachar and in-charge SDO (Civil), Pradip Kumar Gupta circle officer, Lakhipur, SPDO Jyoti Ranjan th, ba Kumar Bora, officer in-charge, Lakhipur police station and Shiu Shukla officer, 147 Bn CRPF, along with personnel of 27 Assam Rifles. They were vigilant, alert and active on all the days of Puja including the day of immersion of the idols of Goddess Durga, Dashomi.

 In addition to these officers, Magistrate Yahadul Islam was also in the charge of maintaining law and order situation at Soi, Dholai and Kachudorom to ward off any indecent and distasteful incident. Both police and civil administration have expressed their gratefulness to the officers in charge of maintaining law and order situation. The CRPF personnel also helped members of various Durga Puja committees on the day of immersion. MLA Rajdeep Goala visited more than 25 pandals. J R Lalsim visited all the areas from time to time in order to ensure law and order.

 Pandey family, one of the renowned families of Binkandie ghat, has been performing Durga Puja at their home for 106 years. Continuing this tradtion, this year also they performed it. It should be mentioned here that devotees from all the GPs visit this Puja every year. This year too they performed Puja which was done by Om Prakash Dubey who was assisted by Durga Kanta Pandey, retired head teacher of Jogaimathura High School. Members of Village Defence Party (VDP) as per order given by the SDPO and OC of Lakhipur police station strolled in every village under Lakhipur sub-division.
