Pul announces ex-gratia to KB Chetry's kin

ITAGAR, Feb 24: Aruchal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul on Tuesday announced ex-gratia amount of 3.5 lakh to kin of KB Chetry who, died due to lack of emergency medical care during the December 17 road blockade at Papu llah.

Pul, who met the son of the deceased, announced ex-gratia of Rs 1.5 lakhs from the State government while another 2 lakhs from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as an immediate relief for the victim’s family.

“On that fateful day, I begged for help but no one came forward,” said Suraj Chetry son of the deceased during his meeting with the chief minister at his office, an official communiqué informed here today.

Sharing his condolence with the bereaved family, Pul expressing shock over the incident said that such deprivation for emergency medical attention should never be meted out to anyone during blockades and bandh.

“We are with you and we will extend all possible help we can,” the chief minister told him who, hails from Kimin, the communiqué added.
