“This year the District Health Department has listed about 11,95,259 children under the age of 0-5 years for polio immunization and to achieve the goal, altogether 3,368 paramedical staff have been recruited who will go door-to-door to immunize babies,” said the Joint Director Dr Barpujari. He also said that apart from this a total of 856 immunization booths had been set up in different villages of the district and 20 special transit camps had also been set up for this. All the government hospitals and PHCs as well as private nursing homes were also directed to offer polio immunization services to every child under the age of 0-5 years. Many social organizations and NGOs, including the Lion’s Club and the Rotary Club of Sivasagar, have also come forward to take part in this polio immunization drive.
