Puram Xatradhikar passes away

GAURISAGAR, Dec 1:   Noted freedom fighter, artist pensioner and Xatradhikar of Jhanji Jarabari Xatra, Puram Xatradhikar passed away on Monday night at his  residence. He was 80. He had been suffering from diabetes since long. Born in Amguri a Pam village, he was the bura bhakat of the Xatra. He was also the Xatradhikar of Jinkata Xatra, Dhubri and Simaluguri Xatra. After the death of Xatradhikar  Gauri Kanta Mahanta, Puram Xatradhikar took charge  as 17th Xatradikar of Jarabari Xatra. People from various walks of life and his bhaktas gathered at the Xatra to pay their last respects. Amguri MLA and APCC chairman Anjan Dutta, former Amguri MLA Prodip Hazarika, Jarabari High School, Puberun Silpi Samaj Amguri, Amguri Aauniatia Hem Chandra Dev H.S. School, Amguri Girls’ High School, AASU, Amguri Regiol Committee and Jhanji Press Club have condoled the death of  Xatradhikar. Prasanta Kumar Dutta, Superintendent of Police, lbari, and a disciple of the Xatradhikar had been bearing the expenses of the Xatradhikar’s medical treatment. As per traditiol rule, today evening the Xatradhikar was cremated on the banks of the Brahamaputra near Dikhowmukh.
