Purbattar Bhujpuri Samnilan Slams Bihar and UP Governments for Irresponsible Behaviour

TINSUKIA: The Purbattar Bhujpuri Samnilan (PBS) strongly condemned the State Governments of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh for handling NRC matters in the most casual and irresponsible manner. Addressing a press meet on Monday here, Prem Upadhyay, president of PBS, categorically blamed the two governments for non-inclusion of several thousand Hindi-speaking people residing in Assam in the complete draft of the NRC.

Upadhyay informed that out of total 84,685 cases sent to Bihar Government for verification of records, only 10,389 returned, while in case of Uttar Pradesh, out of 30,887 only 4,890 were sent back after verification. Thus, nearly about one lakh Hindi-speaking people have been left out in the complete draft of NRC.

Though a high-level team will be visiting Bihar and UP soon to apprise the State Governments about the state of affairs and also to request them to expedite the pending cases, the Samnilan urged upon the NRC officials to appoint adequate number of people having good command over Hindi language in the NSKs as almost all documents received earlier from those States were written in Hindi.
