Purjagaran Yatra Campaign held in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, May 14: Purjagaran Yatra Campaign, a district-level mass awakening programme for youth participation in tion development was held on Thursday in Kokrajhar.

The programme was organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kokrajhar supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India at Basic Training Centre, Kokrajhar on Thursday. Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Thaneswar Malakar iugurated the function.

In his speech, Malakar said that it was an initiative taken by the Ministry of Youth Affairs to create good governce and mass awakening for tiol integration. He hoped that common people would be benefitted through this awareness programme.

Tapas Kumar Paramanik, district coorditor of the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kokrajhar said that all over India 20 districts had been selected and these included four districts of Assam -Kamrup, Lakimpur, Tinsukia and Kokrajhar.

Hundreds of volunteers and common people, including students, participated in the iugural session. He also said that a total of 100 VCDCs would be covered by hundreds of volunteers as campaigning drive from May 18. Among others, PK Bhagawati, ADC, Kokrajhar, Dr JC Boro, Joint Director Health Services and P Paul, officer of Assam Gramin Vikash Bank, Kokrajhar were present.
