Purohit against commercialization of education

GUWAHATI, Feb 26: “Commercialization of education should be stopped as it makes no good to society and it dilutes its essence of manifesting the inherent perfection of the people,” said Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit while iugurating the annual day function of Seva Bharati Jajati Chatravas and Sankardeva Sishu Niketan at Sankardev gar, Adingiri, Maligaon today.

Attending the function organized by Seva Bharati Kamakhya gar Charitable and Dharmik Trust as the chief guest, the Governor said that education is one of the most important tools for the tion to prosper. Through education, one can break all barriers and can be successful.

Purohit called upon the students to lead a simple yet disciplined life with highest mission and vision to achieve noble endeavours in life. He also advised them to develop sportsmanship spirit which, according to him, would help them march forward in the midst of all challenges.  He also urged the students to emulate the lives and works of Ernest Hemingway and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and make them their role models.

The Governor referred to the life of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, who by dint of sheer diligence and dedication, reached the zenith of success. He pointed out that simplicity, sensibility and hard work had made Lal Bahadur Shastri a great humanist.

Purohit also spoke on transparency and its role in helping a person in his professiol and persol life. He also called upon the teaching fraternity present on the occasion to practise highest degree of ethics and professiolism to bring in revolutiory changes in the society.    

The Governor lauded the efforts of the Seva Bharati Kamakhya gar Charitable Trust and wished it success in the endeavour.  Social worker Ullas Kulkarni, Secretary Bipin Kalita and a host of other dignitaries were also present at the function.
