Puroik Welfare Board constituted

Itagar, May 6: In pursuance to the assurance given by Aruchal Pradesh Governor P B Acharya in his speech during the last assembly session, the state government has constituted an autonomous Puroik Welfare Board under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary (Coordition) which will work for the welfare of the Puroik community. The Puroiks are considered as bonded labourers in the state. The board would study the socio-economic conditions of Puroiks and ensure that all schemes of central and state governments reach them, an official release informed here today. The board would also make specific recommendations to the state government through Social Justice, Empowerment and Tribal Affairs (SJETA), the nodal department to achieve all round development of the Purioks and bring them into the mainstream of the society like other tribal people of state, the release added.
