PWD Minister's effigy burnt

Tezpur, Aug 25: Though the ruling party acclaimed and screamed for bringing about vast development in Assam but the picture of NH-15 Road connecting from Orang to Dhekiajuli, enlightens a different story. Specifically, the roads which are beset with knee-deep potholes like ponds. Roads in almost has been severely damaged making vehicular movement a nightmare. Broken sewerage lines and storm water drains only add to the mess.

Members of Dhekiajuli Krishak Shramik Suraksha Sangram Samiti and local inhabitants of Sirajuli came out at large on the tiol high way at Sirajuli in Sonitpur district protesting against pathetic condition of the NH-15 Road connecting from Orang to Dhekiajuli, and held strong dissent demonstration against PWD department and burn effigies of PWD minister P Sukla Baidya. The crowed chanted anti-slogans for failure to repair the badly damaged road since many years and have shown their anguish over the governments’ attitude towards the neglected people of area.

 “The government campaigned about ‘Shining Assam’ and it may be true in NE India Highways, which is indeed shining with copious of potholes, pebbles and dust in tiol Highways. We, the inhabitants of Dhekiajuli-Sirajuli area are still living in medieval condition due to lack of basic facilities of road connectivity and we, the inhabitants are aghast over the step-motherly treatment of PWD and the Government for failing to repair the road. The NH-15 road lies in a very dilapidated condition from many years, due to which we have to face various difficulties, local people said.
