PWD to release LoC for Seppa-C' Tajo road

ITAGAR, Aug 29: Chief engineer PWD (western zone) Katung Waghe has said that the fund sanctioned for construction of Seppa-ChayangTajo road has been used. He was speaking to representatives of East Kameng Social Welfare & Cultural Organization (EKSWCO) here on Friday. Waghe said to restart the road construction activities, fresh approval of the state government was needed. Earlier, SE PWD Sagalee Circle had directed the executing agency Gammon India Pvt Limited to stop further work on the North East Council sponsored 81 km Seppa-ChayangTajo road. The work was directed to stop as the amount of work done had exceeded the agreement amount of Rs 87.54 crore, leading to hue and cry among the general public. "Till the time the state government comes up with an altertive solution, the department is bound to put the construction activities on halt, to prevent undue claim of bills by contractor," Waghe said. After the discussion, both the sides agreed that the department will issue balanced labour operating cost (LoC) to GIL for completion of incomplete bridge works; they also resolved to allow construction activities and the contractor shall judiciously use the payment received from the department for targeted works as directed by the department, etc. Parliamentary secretary for health and family welfare, Karya Bagang, chairman EKSWCO Khya Safar Pao, ZPM Sawa, Lama Bagang, SE PWD Bobia circle and executive engineer, Chayang Tajo division were also present during the discussion.
