QRV for disaster relief flagged off

Itagar, June 17: A Quick Response Vehicle (QRV) for the Capital Complex under district disaster magement authority (DDMA) was flagged off by chief secretary S D Gamlin here on Friday.
QRV is a vehicle that responds to emergencies and any eventuality immediately.
Speaking on the occasion, Gamlin appreciated the initiative of Capital Complex DC Prince Dhawan for procuring the vehicle which she termed would act as a life saver in emergency cases, especially during the monsoon.
She also suggested on acquiring at least two more numbers of QRV so as the entire Capital Complex is covered.
Earlier, while explaining the objective of launching the QRV, DC Dhawan informed that the vehicle will respond to disaster related cases for now. The basic equipments which are required to deal with emergency cases are placed in the QRV and the same will be stationed at SDRF camp in Chimpu under the supervision of the SDRF commandant, the DC informed.
He further informed that the QRV will also keep close vigilance over all vulnerable areas within the Capital Complex.
When a call is received in the Emergency Operation Centers’ toll free number 1077, a Quick Response Team along with a Rapid Response Team of the Medical Department will be activated and move to incident site, the DC added.
Among others present during the flag off programme were Principal Secretary for Home Satya Gopal, SDRF personnel, members of DDMA and other officers and staff of the DC office.
