Qualifying round of International Tennis Federation (ITF) tennis begins

GUWAHATI: The qualifying round of the World Ranking Tennis Tournament of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) for boys and girls U-18 got under way at the All Assam Tennis Association Complex, Chachal today.

Twenty one qualifying round matches were completed on the first day of the Championship. Justina Borgohain and Andy Thaosen of Assam were given wild cards in the qualifying round of the girls and boys singles events.

Justina Borgohain moved to the final qualifying round in the girls U-18 singles event while other Assam player Andy Thaosen lost in the 2nd round of the boys U-18 singles qualifying event. The final qualifying round will be held on Sunday while the main draw matches of the tournament will kick off from Monday.
