'Quality of election has gone down with no reforms taking place'

SHILLONG, Jan 25: During the tiol Voter’s Day (NVD) being observed at the office of the Deputy Commissioner on former Minister AH Scott said that the quality of election has gone down, lamenting that election reforms has not taken place, staggering the growth for the right type of democracy.

Taking example from his past experiences he said that voters take advantage of election time and approach candidates for fincial help.

He also expressed disappointment that elections cannot be fought without money, which the problem the country is facing today.

According to him elections are not fought on the basis of issues but on the basis of money power, where he bemoaned that the quality of leadership also suffers in this situation.

 “Some educated people do not possess EPIC cards and the occasion of tiol Voter’s Day serves the purpose to encouraged people to vote and said voters must take a stand and turn up for meetings by representatives,” he said.
