Quami Ekta Divas observed in Silchar

Silchar: Jamalpur MV School of Bhaga Bazar celebrated Quami Ekta Divas or National Integration Day recently. The school also celebrated its platinum jubilee of its formation.

The school was established in 1942 in a remote area of Cachar district nearing Mizoram border. In the national integration day programme, headmaster in-charge Biswanath Singha delivered his inaugural speech about Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Hasna Khanam Choudhury and Sharmila Das, both the members of mother’s group, also spoke on the occasion.

An extempore speech competition was also organized. Yasmina Begom Laskar, Mridul Kanti Laskar and Shena Begom Laskar bagged the first three positions in the competition. Teachers and students also paid tributes to late Indira Gandhi.
