Quiz competition held to mark birth anniversary of Janeta

Dibrugarh, May 13: Kumar Shivam and Jyotish Kalita and Monoj Deka and Shahbaj Ahmed of Gauhati University clinched the first and second prizes of Rs 10,000 and Rs 6,000 respectively in the recently-concluded quiz competition that was held to mark the 104th birth anniversary of Janeta Ramesh Chandra Baruah under the aegis of Janeta Ramesh Chandra Baruah Smrity Raksha Samittee at Srimanta Sankardev auditorium of DHSK College.
The third prize of Rs 4,000 was bagged by Himangshu Bora and Gagan Jyoti Deka. The competition, which attracted a number of participants from Dibrugarh  and Gauhati University, was started with the lighting of traditiol lamp in front of the portrait of the Janeta  by Ila Duwara.
The quiz master of Jorhat, Anupam Bhuyan conducted the competition very aptly which drew applause from the organizer as well as participants. The prizes to the winning teams were handed over by Hirendra th Barua, Jamshed Ahmed Khan And Dhirendra th Baruah respectively.
The prize distribution function was presided over by the president of Smriti Raksha Samittee, Prof. Sarat Borkakoty. The prizes to all winners of the art competition that was held on January 22 this year were also given away. The convener of the art competition, artist pensioner Sadaruddin  Ahmed anchored the prize distribution programme which was attended by child specialist Dr Purnima Bora Lahkar, artist Ranju Bhattacharjee, freedom fighter pensioner Nurul Huda  and Principal of DHSK College, Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia.
Earlier, Anil Duwara in his welcome speech gave a brief sketch on the life and works of Janeta Ramesh Chandra Baruah. He also offered the vote of thanks.
