Raax festival at Tihu from today

lbari, Nov  24: The 11-day 63th Raax festival will be celebrated at Tihu Hatkhola from Wednesday.

The highlights of the festival include exhibition in more than 250 stalls with sophisticated electrical techniques specially imported from Koch Behar depicting modern and mythological episodes with clay models as found in various scriptures like the Ramaya and the Mahabharata. The programmes include cultural procession, opening of the main gate of Raax festival, flag hosting, open meeting, religious discussion , Ojapali , dhulia,  cultural functions and various competitions.

Meanwhile, a celebration committee has been formed with Hemanta Raj Talukder as president , Harekris Medhi as working president  and Alakesh Choudhury as secretary.  A souvenir titled Muruli also will be published on the occasion. Kak Sen Deka , former president of Axam Xahitya Xabha will iugurate the Raax Mahotsav on Wednesday.

Manoranjan Das, MLA of Patacharkuchi constituency, Maneswar Brahma , MLA of Barama constituency , Ashim Kr Kazi , prominent jourlist, Gopal Jalan, Dr Sankar Kumer Das, distinguished writer and social worker will attend the open meeting. Writer Manikuntala Bhattacharyya will release the souvenir.  The meeting will be presided over by Hemanta Raj Talukder , president of the celebration committee.
