Raha AIIMS Demand Committee demands CBI enquiry into issue

From a Correspondent

GAON (HAIBORGAON), May 25: In demand of the proposed AIIMS at Raha in gaon instead of Changsari in Kamrup, Raha AIIMS Demand Committee on Wednesday staged a protest and blocked NH 37 Road near Raha Chariali for which various vehicles like buses, trucks and cars were stranded on the road for hours.

But amidst the road blockade, the district administration sat for discussion with the protesters and after an hour-and-half, the Raha AIIMS Demand Committee decided to withdraw their strike and sent a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal through the representative of the district administration. The road blockade was peaceful.

In the memorandum, Raha AIIMS Demand Committee demanded CBI enquiry in the whole issue and to find out on what basis the government had taken the decision to set up the proposed AIIMS at Changsari instead of Raha after the expert committee in the report advised to set up AIIMS at Raha instead of Changsari in Kamrup. On the other hand, the proposed middle Assam bandh on May 26 will be continued and it has not been withdrawn by the Raha AIIMS Demand Committee. According to the committee, it will start from 6 am and is likely to continue for 10 hours.
