Rahul Gandhi turns 49 today, PM Modi wishes him ‘Long Life’

New Delhi: Indian National Congress president Rahul Gandhi celebrates his 49th birthday today and with this pours in several good wishes and greetings for the young politician. Right from the social media, to meet him in person, various people showered birthday blessing to the Gandhi family flag-bearer in many ways.

However, an overwhelmed Rahul Gandhi could not keep calm and expressed his joy and gratefulness right away through a twitter post. Gandhi tweeted, "Thank you all for your best wishes & greetings on my birthday. I'm overwhelmed & grateful for your love & affection."

He also shared his pictures with senior leaders who came to meet him in person and pour birthday blessings. The party leaders who met him on his birthday include former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Rahul’s sister Priyanka Gandhi too showers him with a warm birthday greeting on his special day.

Among the opposition leader to have wished Gandhi on his birthday, the most prominent is Prime Minister Narendra Modi who took to tweet a birthday wish for the Congress president.

PM Modi tweeted, "Best wishes to Shri @RahulGandhi on his birthday. May he be blessed with good health and a long life." To this, Rahul Gandhi tweeted a "Thank You" in reply.

Gandhi, celebrating his birthday, could be seen sharing ladoos with journalists and party workers at the party headquarters in Delhi.

Later in the day, Gandhi was seen visiting a temple for offering prayers on the occasion of his birthday.

Greeting the 'Birthday boy', Congress put up a video titled “5 times Rahul Gandhi inspired Indians everywhere.” The social media too could be seen showered with the trending hashtag #HappyBirthdayRahulGandhi.

Rahul Gandhi-led Indian national Congress, however, tasted a pathetic defeat at the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections 2019. Although there were demands and suggestions for dethroning the Congress president, the party, however, remained firm on its decision of sticking to the same president.
