Golaghat, July 11: Following instruction of ban on formalin mixed fish imported from outside Assam for 10 days, the officials of Food Safety department, Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, carried out a raid in the fish market of Golaghat town on Wednesday. Under the supervision of Inspector Monuj Bora and Sub-Inspector Mriganka Krisha Gogoi of Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department, the fish market was inspected and three quintals of salani fish were recovered in the wholesale market and 69 kg salani fish from the retailer market. The team warned the wholesalers and retailers not to sell salani fish and if they were found selling and stocking formalin mixed salani fish, legal action would be taken under the Food Security and Standard Act. On the other hand, a team of officials in Dergaon also carried out raid against sale of salani fish in various market places. Sub-Inspector Mriganka Krisha Gogoi further informed that raid again would be done in the evening and this process would be continued until further instruction was received.
