Raids in Pathsala restaurants

Eight domestic cylinders seized

PATHSALA, July 12: The administration of Bajali subdivision in Barpeta district led by SDO (Civil), along with Food and Civil Supplies department officials conducted raids in restaurants of Pathsala town and seized eight domestic cylinders misused in three restaurants on Wednesday evening. Two domestic cylinders were found at Atithya Restaurant, two domestic cylinders at Sanjyukta Restaurant and four domestic cylinders were found at Habi Restaurant. Notably, Habi and Sanjyukta do not have GST registration also.

Sources said, "We received complaints that some restaurant owners of Pathsala were using domestic cylinders for commercial purpose. So we conducted raid and seized cylinders from these places." As per norms, the use of domestic cylinders for commercial purposes is legally not allowed. Shopkeepers and owners of commercial establishments have been restricted from using domestic LPG cylinders. Still a large number of traders and businessmen are using domestic LPG cylinders in their shops. Anyone who wants to use an LPG cylinder for commercial use should use gas cylinders customized for that purpose.
