Haflong, June 17: The rail communication between Lumding and Badarpur, Hills section of N F Railway is likely to resume from Monday as the track fit certificate has been given for movement of passenger traffic at restricted speed of 15 kmph after completion of restoration work near Bandarkhal. The track is also certified fit for traffic between Manu and Ambasa, informed a railway source. The rail communication between Lumding – Badarpur was disrupted from June 14 due to heavy landslides at several locations between Daotuhaja- Phiding, Jatinga Lampur—Harangajao and Bandarkhal – Damchera resulting in untold sufferings for the people of Dima Hasao and also of the entire Barak Valley and States like Tripura, Manipur and Mizoram.

Earlier, a passenger special train was running between Lumding and New Haflong and on Sunday the special train was allowed to run between Lumding –Badarpur after clearing the landslides between Bandarkhal and Damchera and rail communication between Lumding and Badarpur is expected to resume from Monday.

Meanwhile, the road communication between Haflong- Lumding has been restored but Haflong-Silchar is yet to be restored. The condition of NH-54 between Jatinga- Harangajao is in a very bad condition since the NHAI seems to be indifferent. The people of Dima Hasao have been demanding immediate completion of the NH-54 since long but no authority allegedly feels the necessity to address the plight of the people of Dimas Hasao.
