Rajabheta over bridge near Dibrugarh University in immediate need of repair

Dibrugarh: The Rajabheta over the bridge, at a stone’s throw from Dibrugarh University, is again becoming fraught with dangers and risks for the ones crossing over it.

Although the bridge, ever since its inception, has had a streak of complaints of poor construction, it was of late repaired just before the inauguration of the Bogibeel bridge. But, as a proof of yet another flimsy job, it had again developed wide potholes all across it before having been concealed by half-hearted filling-up measures. Right now, given the ongoing sporadic downpour, the potholes stand a risk of getting exposed all over again. If this was not enough, building materials like rods also lie exposed in certain parts of the bridge, sending a shiver down the spine of the drivers and riders.

The bridge is important as it stands on NH-37, and by the dint of it, witnesses all kinds of vehicles ranging from utmost heavy like tankers to light ones like two-wheelers. All long-distance buses, covering both night and day service, ply over the bridge on a daily basis. Also, all the passenger-carrying vehicles moving to and fro between Dibrugarh and places like Pasighat, Dhemaji and Lakhimpur via the Bogibeel bridge, use the overbridge at Rajabheta, attracting, even more, wear and tear.
