Rajen Gohain reviews Bogibeel bridge construction work

Dibrugarh, Feb 3: The Bogibeel Rail-cum-Road bridge over the Brahmaputra is to be completed by December this year. Union Minister of State for Railway, Rajen  Gohain, who was in Dibrugarh for taking  part in the Digi-Dhan Mela, later visited  the construction site of the bridge and reviewed the progress of construction. The minister had rebuked the construction company officials for delay in completion of the bridge in time.

The construction of the much-hyped bridge was started in 2004 and was supposed to be completed by 2009, but due to sheer negligence of the construction company Gemon India in constructing the pillar, the completion work has been delayed to more than 12 years.

Union Minister Gohain met the high officials of Railway and Hindustan Construction company engaged in the construction work  and asked  them to pick up the pace of work and complete it before December this year. Later, while talking to media persons, Gohain categorically stated that the bridge would be dedicated to the tion on December 25.
