Rajen Gohain’s effigy burnt in Nagaon

NAGAON: The district unit of Krishak Sramik Unnayan Parishad, Asom on Thursday demanded immediate arrest of Union Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain for allegedly molesting a married woman and her sister-in-law.

Activists of the organization burnt his effigy on the old NH-37 near Nowgong College and also urged the party leadership to terminate his party membership till the court passed its final verdict in the molestation case which is under trial in Nagaon CJM Court.

During the agitation, the State president of the farmers’ organization, Pradeep Kalita, working president, Mukul Bora, State general secretary, Utpal Boruah, district general secretary Amlan Jyoti Mahanta and hundreds of activists took part and shouted slogans against Gohain.

“The farmers’ organization has declared an agitation programme against the minister and will create awareness programme in almost all 9 LACs of the district to make people aware of his lustful character and nature,” said the district general secretary of the organization, Amlan Jyoti Mahanta during an interaction with some local mediapersons.
