Rajkhowa, Tuki congratulate sportsmen

ITAGAR, Sept 9: Aruchal Pradesh Governor J P Rajkhowa and Chief Minister bam Tuki have congratulated lifter Jimjang Deru for winning the first Gold medal for India in the 5th Commonwealth Youth Games being held at Apia, Samoa.

The governor also applauded the achievements of Aruchalee Judokas Teli Jermin, mdu Lapung and Kamdo Boi in the sub-junior tiol Judo Championship at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh and Laa Takum in the All India Sub Junior Ranking Badminton Championship in Gulbarga, Kartaka.

Rajkhowa expressed hope and confidence that sportspersons of the state would continue to bring laurels for the state and tion in future as well.

“By their outstanding performance, they will inspire many more talented sports persons of the state to win laurels for the state in different fields,” he said.

Tuki also expressed happiness that the new-found enthusiasm in sportspersons of the state is giving results in medals and brining laurels for the state in tiol and intertiol levels.

In a statement, the chief minister showered praises on young weightlifter Jimjang Deru, who added another feather to his cap by winning Gold in his weight category in the ongoing 5th Commonwealth Youth Games, the first Gold for India in the championship.

“Young Deru has been showing exemplary consistency in his chosen field of sport. The people of Aruchal Pradesh and the country are proud of him. He has opened up the account for India in the prestigious Championship and I am sure other sportspersons from the country would follow suit,” he said.

He further congratulated Laa Takum for winning a Bronze in the All India Sub Junior Ranking Badminton Championship being held at Gulbarga, Kartaka.

Calling upon all sportspersons of the state to aim for the highest, Tuki assured that the state government will always support and provide necessary assistance to them to excel in their respective fields.

He reminded all of the ‘Mission Olympics’ programme adopted by the state government and reiterated that accolades in kind and cash won’t be limited to sportspersons showing exemplary achievements in tiol and intertiol ares.

Meanwhile, Aruchal Pradesh Weightlifting Association & Indian  Weightlifting Federation vice president Abraham K Techi while congratulating Deru for winning India’s 1st gold medal at 5th Commonwealth Youth Games on Monday said it is just the beginning and state weightlifters would come up to IWF expectations of meeting India’s aspirations at global level.

All Aruchal Pradesh Students’ Union president Kamta Lapung said that state’s sports persons are proving their skills and that is why three won medal on Monday. The trio – Deru, Laa Tukum and Teli Jermin deserves applause, he added.
