Rajkhowa using Raj Bhawan as BJP, RSS HQs: NCP

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

ITAGAR, Dec 12: The Aruchal Pradesh unit of NCP has castigated Governor JP Rajkhowa for his decision to prepone the winter session of the Assembly from December 16 and demanded his immediate recall from the state.

Terming Rajkhowa as a hardcore BJP worker, NCP Spokesperson Nima Sange in a statement today said, “The governor is using the Raj Bhawan as the BJP and RSS headquarters where political conspiracies are being weaved to topple the democratically elected state government. He is supposed to safeguard the Constitution as a guardian of the state and ought to maintain neutrality and should know his constitutiol limitation.”

“The governor actually summons assembly sessions on the recommendation of the council of ministers and he cannot fix the agenda of the house except for the council of ministers and the legislative assembly secretariat. The NCP is worried over the fact that if the governor acts as a BJP worker instead of exercising his power and function, there will be a mockery of the Constitution,” he added.

Further showing the party’s concern over the governor’s letter to the Prime Minister asking him to stop various important projects and funds for the state on the pretext of unfounded complaints from various politically motivated quarters, the NCP stated that Rajkhowa’s interference in the functioning of various department of the state was ‘ill intended’.

“The governor’s action of directly calling secretaries and commissioners to Raj Bhawan and asking them to report directly to him without the knowledge of the chief minister and chief secretary is an unethical action on his (governor) part which totally deserves condemtion from the people of the State,” Sange stated.

“The State NCP opines that the impeachment for the removal of Speaker cannot be processed until and unless the court gives its fil verdict over the disqualification of two MLAs as the case is still sub judiced. The governor’s and opposition party’s political strategy is to remove the speaker so that the dissident group of the congress can defect to the BJP to topple the elected government which, will remain as a day dream,” he said.

Urging the governor to refrain from demeaning the constitution, the NCP further stated that it would be soon submitting a memorandum to the President and Prime Minister to avoid any sort of political turmoil and law and order problems in the state.
