Rajth meets farmers in Saharanpur, assures help

Lucknow, April 16: Home Minister Rajth Singh on Thursday visited many areas in Saharanpur and took stock of the problems being faced by farmers whose crops were ravaged by the recent unseasol rain and hailstorms. Rajth, who has also served as the Uttar Pradesh chief minister, went to Govindpur and spoke to the aggrieved farmers. Urging them not to resort to extreme steps like suicide in the wake of crop damage, he assured them of all possible help from the central government. He also said that the assessment of crop damage was being done after visits by central ministers to different parts of the rain affected areas.
He assured that very soon compensation would be fixed and disbursement fast-tracked.  (IANS)
