Rally taken out to create awareness on cleanliness, sanitation

Goalpara, Feb 12: As part of the Swaccha Bharat Mission and as part of the Assam Conference on Sanitation (ASCOSAN) which is scheduled to held on February 16 and February 17 in Guwahati, the Public Health Engineering Department on Sunday morning brought out a campaign rally in the heart of Goalpara town. The rally marched from Goalpara College field and ended at DICI field. It was participated by the students of Goalpara College, Baladmari High School, Bapujigar High School, Goalpara Municipal Board, Kungfu School, Goalpara Police, CRPF Goalpara and representatives of many other organizations.  Flagging off the programme, JVN Subramanym, Deputy Commissioner, remarked that every citizen of Goalpara should act like the brand ambassador for cleanliness and sanitation and make the town the cleanest in the country. While referring to Rangsapara village under Balija block which recently received State’s cleanest village award, he said, “It is proved that cleanliness is not related with poverty.” Speaking on the occasion, Pankaj Kumar Baruah, executive engineer, PHE department, appealed to the students to spread the message of cleanliness and sanitation to the rural areas so that the benefits might reach the poor and the backward. Biswajit Goswami, ADC, and A.Basumatary, ASP, were some of the dignitaries present in the programme.
