GUWAHATI: Assam scored 190-7 in their first innings against Services on Day I of Ranji Trophy tie in Delhi today. Amit Sinha played a captain’s knock and remained not out on 51. Gokul Sharma (49) was the other major contributors.

Team management brought in Sarupam Purkayastha and Pallav Das in the first XI in this game. But the decision didn’t work as Pallav scored 29 and Sarupam failed to open his account.

Invited to bat, Assam made very slow progress in the game. The side bat 87 overs in the day and added only 190 runs on the board.

In the morning two openers Pallav and Rishav put 40 runs on the board before Pallav got out (29). His partner Rishav contributed 25 runs on the board.

Thereafter the visitors lost wickets on regular intervals till Gokul and Amit made partnership. The duo on the 5th wicket partnership added 59 runs, the best in the innings. Gokul lost a half century narrowly as the batsman got out on 49 (4X5). Later Assam lost two more wickets in the form of Sarupam (0) and Jitumoni (4). However Amit kept his nerve cool and completed half century. He took 101 balls to score unbeaten 51 runs with the help of seven boundaries. Ranjeet Mali (1) is giving him the company.
