Rape accused surrenders

RANGIA, Feb 12:  Tension prevailed around the Deusunga area near Indo-Bhutan border following the heinous incident of rape of a 14-yeal-old girl of Bholajhar-Deusunga village under Suwagpur Police Station in Baksa district. According to sources, one local trader Akesh Ali (25), son of Hasan Ali of No-2 Dongargaon village, allegedly raped the girl in the Bardi river area on February 3. Since then, Akesh Ali had been absconding.

However, the accused surrendered before police at Paneri Police Station in Udalguri district on February 6. The Goreswar police took Akesh Ali in custody on February 6 at night and started further investigation.
