Rape attempt on minor, 2 nabbed

Bongaigaon, July 13: Two youths who allegedly tried to rape a minor girl on Thursday night at Bongaigaon old colony in Bongaigaon have been nabbed by the police on Friday. According to a relative of the victim girl and two of her friends returned from Guwahati on July 12 by night train and from New Bongaigaon station they hired a tempo to Bongaigaon old colony where they let go the tempo. The victim then started walking towards her home nearby when two youths came on a bike and physically assaulted her and tried to rape her. While the girl shouted, the locals rushed out and saved her. The police was informed while the culprits fled from the spot leaving behind their bike. After night-long search, the police succeeded in nabbing the two youths identified as Anil Basfore and Aksay Basfore. Both the accused have been remanded to jail custody by the court.
