IMPHAL March 12: A married man with two children identified as Timothy Changsang of Churachandpur district is in judicial custody now. He runs an orphage, North Eastern Children Home, at Rengkhai in Churachandpur district. According to complaints by at least two inmates he has been raping the grown up girl inmates fora long time.

Two girls disclosed their traumatic experience in a press meet organised by the Manipur Alliance on Child Rights. The girls said that the accused used to browbeat them, most of them were beaten up. After raping them he used to tell them that if they disclose it they would be beaten up. Out of fear they kept silent for months together.

However seven girls fled the orphage on February 25. They lodged a complaint with the police after which the accused owner of the orphage was arrested. It is understood that the accused had confessed to his crime during police interrogation. Under the circumstances it will not be difficult to file the charge sheet.
