SHILLONG, Sept 8: Newly-inducted People’s Democratic Front (PDF) member Hamlet Dohling on Friday said that as per an RTI reply received by him the MUDA Building Bye Laws, 2011 is functioning from Lawsohtun to 6th Mile area.

Speaking at a function at Umlyngka, Dohling said, “I had asked whether Lawsohtun and Upper Shillong falls under the jurisdiction of MUDA and the reply I received was yes.”

He added, “I had asked if people need to apply for permission for construction of cowshed in the constituency and the reply was yes for permanent and semi-permanent structures.”

Dohling said as per the RTI reply even construction of temporary structures needs to be first informed to the MUDA office.

In this regard, he took a dig at the present MLA of the constituency, Ronnie V Lyngdoh.

The new PDF leader said, “Earlier, Ronnie had asserted that he will resign from his position as an MLA if MUDA encroaches into Mylliem, but now the public will remove him from power.”

Meanwhile, PDF member and senior politician HS Shylla said, “If the PDF comes to power after the 2018 polls, the party’s first priority will be to remove the MUDA Building Bye Laws from the Sixth Schedule areas.”
