Rebia’s advice to river bank residents

Itanagar, June 21: Environment & Forest Minister Nabam Rebia has exhorted the people living along the bank of rivers and flood prone areas to take precautionary steps for safety of their life and property while inspecting embankment of Dikrong River in Huto Colony, near here on Wednesday.

One should remain away from river side and areas vulnerable to flood and landslides as natural calamity cannot be ruled out during monsoon, he said, adding the embankment has been built to protect Doimukh Township in view of commissioning of NEEPCO dam.

Responding to a memorandum by women committee of Huto Colony urging the local lawmaker for good roads in the area and to the colony, Rebia assured to build 2-km CC road to the colony from main road and to Govt middle school He along with Indigenous Faith and culture Society of Arunachal Pradesh team led by chairman Nabam Atum, department indigenous affairs (DIA) director Tayi Taggu earlier inspected Jully and Yupia areas to identify site in to setup DIA headquarters.
