TANGLA, July 20: Under the Extended Gram Swaraj Abhijan-2 of the Government of India, the Udalguri district administration, in association with the Assam Skill Development Mission, organized a day-long recruitment mela based on skills of youths in prescribed seven disciplines in Udalguri on Wednesday. A meeting to this effect was chaired by the Project Director of DRDA, Udalguri, Bhaskar Jyoti Manta. In his speech, he explained the process of recruitment in the given criteria under various disciplines. He also mentioned that there were 38,783 unemployed youths in Udalguri district as registered in the Udalguri employment exchange. The recruitment rally on the occasion was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri, Dilip Kumar Das. He said that the Union government was trying its level best to impart various skill-based training for generating employment for 65 per cent youths of the country and to connect the youths to skills, the government had opened the Ministry of Skill Development so that human resources in real sense could be developed.
Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director of Assam Skill Development Mission, Anand Prakash Tiwari said, “India is rapidly changing on all fronts. There are hundreds of new companies which have adopted latest technology and gizmos. As economic growth has been witnessed, there are scores of avenues to opt for by the educated skilled youths. If we skill ourselves in a particular field, there will be no dearth of jobs.”
He informed that 650 youths of Udalguri district had been able to get jobs under the five skill training centres of the district in the current year. He also appealed to parents and guardians to guide their children. The meeting was also addressed by MLA of Mazbat LAC, Charan Boro as chief guest and was attended by Col. Rahul of 14 Garhwal Rifles, Superintendent of Police of Udalguri, Rajveer Singh and senior scientist, KVK, Dr. Devasish Bora, among others. In the meeting, job offer letters were distributed to the skilled youths, interim financial aid was given to skilled SHGs and workshop and interactive session with experts were also held. Udalguri district has been selected along with six other backward districts of the State by the Government of India for rapid development on all fronts.
